| The Abundia Retreat is a weekend getaway for women of size that is held once a year in northern Illinois. The purpose of the weekend is to help each of us move further along the spiral of acceptance. What does that mean? If you are reading this you have likely experienced shame related to the size of your body during part or most of your life. Accepting our bodies, which naturally come in a diversity of sizes and shapes, is a difficult task for women in our culture. Our hope is that during the retreat weekend each woman that attends will move a little further along the path to acceptance. Cheri Erdman coined the lovely term, “spiral of acceptance,” and we think of each of us as somewhere along its path. Accepting our bodies is not something that happens overnight but is a process. Begin or continue the process with us at an Abundia weekend retreat. | |||||||||||||||||||||
